The original Archon can be described as a game of chess where you control the outcome of battles between pieces. This simple yet accurate description captures the essence of this extraordinary game. Archon Classic introduces additional types of game boards with various pieces. Your king is a hero who can cast spells such as resurrecting fallen team members or changing the time of day. The hero is also incredibly fast and possesses powerful abilities that make it difficult for ordinary units to defeat. The rest of the pieces consist of different characters, including walkers, four-legged runners, and flying units. They have various attacks, some engage in close combat, others shoot projectiles or throw stones, and some can wield magic. The main screen, resembling a chessboard divided into squares, is where the strategic part of the game takes place. Here, you can choose to retreat a piece to avoid an attack or, conversely, push it forward when you know it is strong, as winning battles against opponents increases its strength. Pieces can also level up, granting access to abilities that deal greater damage or enhance their capabilities in other ways. In skilled hands, a single powerful piece can turn the tide of victory. This is what makes Archon so unique – if you make tactical mistakes, you can compensate for them with skill, and vice versa.

The game offers free access only to the demo version, but its model is quite unusual. Players are granted a 20-minute gameplay session during which they can unlock additional campaign missions. When the time runs out, they simply need to wait until the next day to enjoy another 20-minute gameplay session.
